Tens of thousands of trout released into Nebraska waters

Posted: Updated:

Christmas came early this year for KOTA Territory fishing enthusiasts.

Tens of thousands of rainbow trout are being stocked into Nebraska waters this week.

Clint Burrell with Rock Creek Fish Hatchery made his panhandle stocking rounds in KOTA Territory Tuesday, releasing about 900 fish in the Riverside Zoo pond, and an additional 1,300 in the Morrill Sandpits.

The rainbow trout are estimated to be around 9 ½ to 10 inch rainbow trout.

"They're catch and keep, so that way people can come out and have the benefits of catching the fish," Burrell said. "So I encourage everyone to come out and do some fishing!"
