Senator Davis asking for financial help for KOTA Territory ranchers

Posted: Updated:

A Nebraska rancher turned state senator is asking the public to help cattlemen recover from losses from this months devastating blizzard.

Hyannis Senator Al Davis is asking people from KOTA Territory to donate to the Rancher's Relief Fund, established by Steve Cleveland of the Chadron Community Foundation.

Davis says there is no clear number of livestock that died as a result of the storm … but the financial loss will affect ranchers for years to come.

He reminds people that those heads of cattle were considered equity for mortgages, car loans, and more. With that equity gone, many won't be able continue their livelihood.

Davis says large donations from those who can afford it would be a blessing; and a $5 donation from those who can't spare much would still go a long way.

Donations can be mailed to:                                                                         Rancher's Relief Fund                                                                                      P.O. Box 1125                                                                                         Chadron, NE 69337
