Heineman gives no clues as to what's in store for political future

Posted: Updated:

Governor Dave Heineman is nearing the end of his second term in office, leaving a big question mark as to what he plans on doing next.
First elected as governor in 2005, Heineman will soon become the longest-serving governor in Nebraska state history with 10 years of service.

Heineman will officially be out of office in January of 2015, and is unable to run again due to term limits.

So what's in store for him next?

Heienman say's he's not quite sure yet.
"Right now, I'm totally focused on being governor. This is a job that requires your attention 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I've still got another important legislative session to go through. Beyond that, my dad always said just so the job you've got really well, the rest will take care of itself."
The 2014 Nebraska gubernatorial election will be held on November 4 next year.

So far, five republican candidates and two democratic candidates are campaigning for the position.
