Community comes out to support local woman injured in crash

Posted: Updated:

The community came together today to support a woman who was seriously injured in a car accident earlier this month.

34–year–old Katie Gurnsey was injured recently in a car accident in eastern Nebraska.

Today, her friends and fellow ‘Mothers Of Preschoolers' (MOPS) members held a fundraiser for Katie at the Aulicks TLC Winter Farmer's Market to help support her family and pay medical bills.

"I heard she kind of had a little bit of rough day yesterday, but so far, everything is looking really good. I think they're taking her off of some of the sedative medication as as as I've hears. So we're just kind of praying and taking it day by day," said MOPS member Amanda Spencer.

They say they're doing everything they can to help Katie and her family, and the community has come out tenfold.

"People have been awesome, they've been donating extra money, they've been not taking their change back, they've just been really awesome," Spencer said.

An account has been set up at First State Bank for donations for Katie and Jason Gurnsey.
