Sentencing for woman who sold meth with children in car set for today

The Gering woman who sold methamphetamine while two young children were in her car will be sentenced this morning in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

23-year-old Brianna Novotny pled no contest to an amended charge of 'Attempt of a Class II felony... which is a Class III felony and carries a prison sentence ranging from 1-20 years.

Court documents say that in July, a cooperating individual (CI) with the WING Drug Task Force met up with Novotny and purchased meth. During the buy, there were two children under the age of 5-years-old in the car.

The CI also told officers that after the buy, she had at least 5 grams of methamphetamine on her person. They followed her to a Gering gas station where she was filling up, and was caught emptying a plastic bag that had a white powdery substance.

Update- Sentencing has been postponed until 11/22 at 1 p.m.
