Scottsbluff man arrested for assaulting 9-month-pregnant girlfriend & police officer

A Scottsbluff man is behind bars after allegedly punching and kicking his pregnant girlfriend's stomach.

23-year-old Brittin Short is charged with 3rd Degree Domestic Assault of a pregnant woman, and 3rd Degree Assault on a police officer.

An arrest affidavit says that police were dispatched to Route 26 mart for a domestic assault.

Short's girlfriend says she is 5 days away from her delivery date, and they got into an argument. She claims that he pushed her into the businesses glass window, and then started punching and kicking her in the stomach.

He was located in a nearby business, and was placed under arrest for domestic assault.

While being escorted to the patrol unit, Short turned and head butted the left side of the head of the arresting officer.

The manager of the business says that he located a small bag of marijuana and a glass pipe that Short hid, and will be charged with additional violations as well.

If convicted, Brittin Short could face up to 10 years in prison, $20,000 in fines, or both.
