Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department serves a record 500 breakfasts at annual benefit

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of people packed into the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department to have a good breakfast, and help support the department.

The Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department hosted their annual benefit breakfast this morning.

Volunteer firefighters served up flapjacks, eggs and sausage to help raise money for their department.

Organizer Kenny Hendren says the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department serves the rural community with medical and fire services, and this morning's breakfast helps pay for some of those services.

"It helps offset costs that are allocated to budgets. It helps us to buy different training supplies and equipment and also send people through EMS class."

Hendren says the community support for the department has been amazing, and they served a record 500 people breakfast this morning.
