Community-decorated wreathes to be displayed in Sidney store fronts

Posted: Updated:

Downtown Sidney is getting a head-start on decorating for the holidays, and the community is helping out.
Handcrafted wreaths will soon pop up in downtown Sidney store fronts.

The wreaths are part of a wreath decorating contest hosted by the Cheyenne county ladies chamber, for people to show off their skills.

Three categories were available for the wreaths: traditional, whimsical, and unique.

Contest organizer Margie Server says people went all out decorating their wreaths this year, using everything from toilet paper to plastic spoons and cupcake wrappers to decorate their wreaths.
"And its hard to tell what kinds of things you'll come up with, but some of them are beautiful and some of them are... I mean, they all turn out pretty. Its just we have all different types and shapes and forms."
The wreaths will be judged and hung up in downtown store fronts until Christmas.
