Alliance's Habitat for Humanity receives $1K check

Posted: Updated:

One panhandle family is a few steps closer to moving into their new home as they continue to receive help from people in Alliance.

Yesterday, members of the First National Bank presented a one-thousand dollar check to help support the Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat volunteers and future home owner Marcela Loera say the money will go along way to put the finishing touches on the home.

Loera says she is excited to be working on her own home and is thanking volunteers who have helped in the building process.

"My kids are really excited," said Loera. "I have three little ones and you know everyone is excited that they're going to get their own room. I'm pretty excited that there's going to be two bathrooms and it's been awesome just working from the ground up. I've learned quite a bit and it's just been a great opportunity, I've never thought that we would have before."

Loera and her family are expected to move into their new house by February 2014.
