Thanksgiving in the Valley volunteers ready to serve 700+ meals

Posted: Updated:

More than 700 free meals are ready to be served to hungry crowds on Thanksgiving.

Volunteers were busy today chopping, stirring, slicing and prepping for the this year's Thanksgiving in the Valley.

The free Thanksgiving dinner event has been going on for some thirty years  and volunteers say they expect this to be the biggest one yet.

Volunteer cook Randy Thruston volunteers almost every thanksgiving, and says it's probably one of the best dinners the valley has to offer.

"It's a good time and the comradeship, people get together and share with one another. Its kind of like one big happy family for those people who don't have a family to go to or perhaps cant find a place to have the meal. And everyone just really enjoys doing it and putting it on and helping out."

The meals will be served from 11 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon, at the Guadalupe Center in Scottsbluff .
