NU athletic director voices support for Pelini, "looking forward" to future games with Bo

Amid speculations and rumors of the fate of Nebraska's head coach, it seems Bo Pelini will stay at Nebraska for at least another season.

Nebraska Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst voiced public support for Pelini in a statement released Saturday.

There was speculation of Pelini's fate as husker head coach after an 8-4 regular season, and questionable comments Pelini made in a post-game conference after the "Hero's" game on Friday.

Eichorst stated it is not customary to comment on coaches until the full season is complete, but given the "unfounded speculation and conjecture" on the fate of Pelini, Eichorst released the statement.

In it, he reaffirmed his respect and appreciation for Nebraska sporting staff and coaches, and stated the program is "very much looking forward to" the upcoming bowl game and Pelini "continuing to lead the program" in the future.

Eickhorst's full statement is below:

"My approach has always been to not comment publicly about our coaches until their full seasons are complete, as I strongly believe it is unfair and counter to best practices.  However, given the volume of unfounded speculation and conjecture about our head football coach, I want to reaffirm what I have said many times since I have arrived at the University of Nebraska -- that I positively respect, appreciate and support our football student-athletes, coaches and staff, as we do everyone in the Husker family.  We very much look forward to our upcoming bowl game and Coach Pelini continuing to lead our program in the future."

Pelini has coached the huskers since 2008, and with a bowl win, he will secure his sixth consecutive nine-win season.
