Bells ringers needed in Alliance

Posted: Updated:

Bells are ringing throughout the panhandle this month as the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign gets underway and help is still needed in Alliance.

Salvation Army Secretary Jean Nelson for Box Butte County says volunteers can sign-up at First National Bank on 124 W 3rd Street and sign up to be a bell ringer.

This December, K-mart and Grocery Kart are the two locations where residents in Alliance can make a donation.

Nelson says volunteers are what make the campaign worth while and that residents in the community appreciate the help the Salvation Army may offer them.

"We had a person that came to town once and he couldn't afford the steel toed boots that his new work required. So he asked Salvation Army for the money and it was so great a week later when he got his first paycheck he came back and gave us the money back." Said Nelson.

Nelson says 90-percent of the money collected will stay in Box Butte County to help those in need. The rest will go to the Salvation Army headquarters.
