New charge filed against Brian Ross for trying to bribe juror

Posted: Updated:

The legal woes continue for a Scottsbluff man who stood trial on Wednesday on a meth possession charge.

After four hours of deliberation, a jury found a former WING Drug Task Force CI guilty on all but one charges brought against him.

33–year–old Brian Ross was been convicted of possession of a controlled substance, willful reckless driving, and obstruction.

Ross was found not guilty of attempted second degree assault.  Bond was revoked and he was remanded to custody.  Sentencing is set for January 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.

However, before the trial Ross allegedly contacted a 23-year-old juror and asked him to "help (him) out today. The juror than told investigators that Ross told him he could give him an envelope full of cash.

Ross was already in custody after his trial, but now faces a new charge of Bribery of a Juror- a Class IV felony.

Prosecuting attorney Scott Blaha says in his four-plus years of experience he has never seen a defendant try to bribe a witness, and it is "exceptionally rare" that a defendant would do that.
