A Scottsbluff man that was convicted of 2nd Degree Assault in October has been sentenced this morning to spend the next 48-72 months in prison.

District Judge Leo Dobrovolny sentenced 28-year-old Roy Little Eagle this morning.

Back in October, a jury determined that on June 23rd, Little Eagle got out of a car, beat a man with an wooden, bat-like object, and then left.

The victim was hospitalized as a result of the attacks.

During sentencing, Public Defender Dave MacDonald asked for probation for his client. However the judge ruled that due to Little Eagle's lengthy criminal record, and a history of sudden violence, probation was not an option.

He is given credit for 69 days served. Under Nebraska's good time law, Little Eagle could be eligible for parole in 36 months.
