A jury has heard one full day worth of testimony against a Gering man charged with 'Manufacturing marijuana near a school zone.'

24-year-old Alex Godfrey was arrested in March after police received a tip about a grow operation in his Gering home.

In his arrest affidavit- it says that Godfrey admitted to police to planting and tending the marijuana plants. He told officers the steps he took; including venting of the room and wrapping fans with blankets to muffle the sound to prevent people in the house to know what was going on in his bedroom.

Scott Blaha says the key piece of evidence in this trial is the grow operation itself... a large square device covered in a metallic substance that was seized from the home.

Closing arguments are set to begin on Friday at 9 a.m. in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

If the jury finds Godfrey guilty, he is facing a prison sentence ranging from 1 to 50 years.
