$28,000 awarded to City of Chadron for Downtown Revitalization plan

A northern panhandle city is planning a makeover of its downtown district.

The city of Chadron was awarded a $28,000 dollar grant to come up with a plan for revitalizing it's downtown.

Part of that plan includes the architecture company conducting meetings with dozens of downtown businesses to get their input on what they visualize downtown Chadron to be.

City Manager Wayne Anderson says the downtown revitalization plan could change an array of things in the city…

"Anything from just re-doing the façade, redoing some of the streets capes, developing some of the second story businesses where they are empty right now, developing apartments or studios or something to bring people back down to the center of town again," Anderson said.

Anderson says there is a quick turn around for the plan proposal, it will be turned in by the end of this month and could be approved as early as spring.

If approved, the city could receive up to $300,000 dollars for the revitalization project, which could start as early as fall of next year.
