Alliance FD looking for firefighter and EMT volunteers

Posted: Updated:

The Alliance Fire Department are accepting applications for firefighter and EMT volunteers.

Chief Troy Shoemaker of the Alliance fire department says the city can allow up to 60 volunteers to be on the force.

There are currently about 45 volunteers.

Shoemaker says those interested in becoming a firefighter volunteer will have to put in about 140 hours a year.

But the department makes those hours doable by having a weekly training class.

Without volunteers, Shoemaker says the department wouldn't be able to serve residents properly.

"Volunteers save the taxpayers of Alliance a tremendous amount of money to operate the fire department. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be able to provide and serve." Said Shoemaker.

Anyone interested in volunteering their time should contact the Alliance fire department at 308-762-2151.
