Trees Along the Trails underway at Legacy of the Plains

Posted: Updated:

It's beginning to look a lot more like Christmas at the Legacy of the Plains Museum as volunteers have decorated trees and a contest is underway.

The annual Trees Along the Trail contest kicked off on Saturday.

Christmas trees are displayed throughout the lobby of the museum.

Visitors can cast votes for their favorite trees.

Each vote costs one dollar.

Non-profit organizations decorated the evergreens for a good cause.

Proceeds from the contest will go towards the museum and the non-profit organizations.

But this year, there are fewer trees to decorate than in past years so voting really counts.

"We have spots, for 20 trees this year, it's a little bit down from previous years," Said Executive Director Katie Bradshaw. "In previous years we had trees in the museum gallery; this year we're under construction so we have trees in the lobby. "So we have room for 20 but it's going to be a winter wonderland in the museum lobby."

Judging lasts until December 23rd.
