High Point Welcome Center of Western Nebraska recognized by Nebraska Tourism Commission

Posted: Updated:

The High Point Welcome Center of Western Nebraska will be included as one of 15 officially recognized Interstate 80 Visitor Centers beginning in January 2014.

The Official 2014 Travel Guide produced by the state features an inside front cover, two page fold out map of the state. A key section of the map is a listing of all state staffed visitor centers. Kimball joins Sidney as the two centers representing the Panhandle.

Executive Director of the Nebraska Tourism Commission Kathy McKillip says it is, "Our intent to assist with the promotion and part-time staffing at your visitor center."

Kimball County Tourism Director Jo Caskey says, "This is huge! It's awesome! To think our Welcome Center has been only up and running five months and the state has recognized it... Wow!"

Caskey credits the success of the center to the cities and counties in the region who are helping support the operation and to people who have donated equipment, furnishings, and time to the High Point Welcome Center of Western Nebraska.

The center is open 7 days a week, 361 days a year. It is closed on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
