Posted: Updated:

It took a jury less than 3 hours to find a man guilty of killing his girlfriend from a 2011 slaying.

Today, 48-year-old Craig Johnson was convicted on all three charges that he faced, including  first degree murder.

Johnson killed his girlfriend, 42-year-old April Smith, on Dec. 11, 2011, at the home they shared eight miles west of Sidney in the Nebraska Panhandle.

Authorities say Johnson became enraged at Smith because she'd let her estranged husband fix her vehicle. People also reported to police that Smith planned to reconcile with her husband.

Sentencing has been set for February 5th at 4 p.m. in Cheyenne County District Court. He faces life in prison.
