SBHS makes plans for 12-year renovation project

Posted: Updated:

Scottsbluff Public School officials address a number of high school improvement plans they hope to implement in the near future.

The master plan calls for a number of necessary updates regarding school safety and security.

Power upgrades for new technology and more class room space will be added, as well, as new restrooms by the auditorium.  Plans also call for a new gymnasium and remodeled locker rooms.

The updates are expected to take-place in four stages over the next 12 to 13 years and extend the school's life by 25 to 30 years.

"So beyond the minimal essential components that are related to the functionality of the school, we wanted to look at new programs in the school and what can we do so kids can have a great experience," says Superintendent Rick Myles.

Costs including inflation and unforeseen expenses are expected to exceed more than $30 million.
