Task Force to study possible dispatch center consolidation

Posted: Updated:

Officials in Alliance have formed a task force group to study a possible consolidation between the city's and county's dispatch centers.

Members of the Alliance police and fire departments as well as the sheriff's department will make up part of the task force.

City Manager J. D. Cox says the idea for a possible consolidation came about because a non-emergency call cannot be transferred between the police and county departments.

Cox says he supports the study by the task force.

Two members also belonging to the Emergency 911 board will head the task force.

"The group that met, the county commission and the city council, they decided to move forward with the task force and chairing that task force will be County Commissioner Doug Hashman and City Council member Trent Benzel." Said Cox.

Members of the task force plan on meeting quarterly.
