Teen accused of robbing Mitchell convenience store in court

Posted: Updated:

A Torrington teen will be tried as an adult, after allegedly stealing his father's gun and using it to rob a convenience store.

15-year-old Dylan Cardeilhac is charged with the December 3rd armed robbery of the Kwik Stop in Mitchell.

He appeared before Scotts Bluff County Judge Kris Mickey on Wednesday afternoon on charges of Robbery and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony.

Judge Mickey told the teen that the charges against him are very serious.

Court documents say that at approximately 1:35 a.m. on December 3rd, Cardeilhac and another person entered the Kwik Stop wearing masks. Cardeilhac allegedly was carrying a shotgun and demanded cash from the register.

He was arrested on December 5th after a School Resource Officer was informed by another student that Cardeilhac was bragging about the incident through messages on Facebook.

A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in the coming weeks, and Cardeilhac remains jailed on a $750,000 bond at 10%.
