Cheema Capitol LLC gets city approval of liquor licence for new Gering liquor store

Posted: Updated:

A new liquor store in Gering is one step closer to opening its doors.
Cheema Capital LLC plans to open Thrifty's Gas and Liquor on 10th Street in Gering.

This would be the fourth establishment in the city to operate with a class "D" liquor license.

Some city council members questioned if the city really needed another class "D" license within city limits, especially if two will be operating on opposite ends of the same block.

But council member Justin Allred reminded council that they should up for all businesses in Gering.
"I've heard many times within the city council, council members say that we should fight for every business that wants to open in the city of Gering, and I'm for any business that wants to open its doors on 10th street because liquor isn't going to be the only thing they sell."
The city voted to approve the recommendation for the liquor license, the application will now move to the state level.
