Gering, Minatare end court action against county

Posted: Updated:

Gering and Minatare have dropped their court action against Scotts Bluff County because the county has withdrawn its deadline for the cities to sign a new agreement on emergency dispatching services.
A hearing on the cities' request for an injunction was scheduled for Thursday, but attorneys for the cities filed a motion to dismiss their request. The cities said the county had withdrawn a Dec. 17 deadline for continuing nonemergency dispatching services and a Jan. 13 deadline for continuing emergency dispatching services.
Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner had told the cities in a letter that the deadlines had been withdrawn and that county officials looked forward to discussing the issues.
The parties have been squabbling over contents of an agreement regarding funding for upgrades to the Communications Center.
