KAB hosts electronics drive to support Senior Center tomorrow

Posted: Updated:

Members of Keep Alliance Beautiful (KAB) are hosting a free electronics drive at the Alliance Senior Services Center on Saturday.

The drive will give people 55-years or older a free chance to recycle electronics safely instead of having them be placed in the landfill.

Anyone younger than 55 can donate but will have to pay 38-cents per pound.

KAB has teamed up with Denver company Electronic Recyclers to move the items from Alliance to Denver.

KAB normally pays a $350 transfer fee but the Denver company decided to do it for free.

Executive Director Deb Dopheide says KAB will give the $350 to the senior center so that it can fix windows that are in poor shape.

"I sat in an office and talked with Maxine Fox, who's the president of the Senior Citizen Center and I talked with her one day and it was a nice day out and I couldn't believe how much air was blowing through the windows and I was just shocked by it." Said Dopheide.

Dopheide says she is challenging other local businesses to donate $350 to the senior center for future projects.

Tomorrow's fundraiser runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
