A Bayard man who entered a plea deal to avoid going to trial on child enticement charge has been sentenced to prison.

33-year-old Gabriel Yoder has been sentenced to 48 - to - 72 months in prison.

Court documents say that from July to August of 2013, Yoder sent 4,700 texts to a 12-year-old girl that were sexual in nature.

Prosecuting Attorney Scott Blaha said that this was " a young, vulnerable" girl, and "hopefully she is not permanently damaged by this."

Judge Randall Lippstreu told Yoder before he was sentenced that, "It is the responsibility of adults to protect children, not exploit them."

Under Nebraska's current good time law, Yoder could be eligible for parole in 24 months, and be released in 36 months.
