Morrill educator named "Principal of the Year"

Posted: Updated:

A panhandle educator from one of the smallest schools in Nebraska has been selected as best new principal in the state.

Students at Morrill Elementary were told the news this morning that their principal, Ms. Keri Homan, has been named "Outstanding New Principal of the Year."

Homan was nominated for the award by her peers in Region 5, and received several letters of support from community members, teachers, and the superintendent.

The Nebraska Elementary Principals Association recently presented Homan with the award in Kearney at the State Principal's Conference.

Homan says to be just to be nominated was an honor in itself.

"I've had some great principals to learn from, but more than anything, my staff and my students support me and hey help me look good, so its not just for me its for the whole town of Morrill and the student body and the teachers as well."

Homan is in her fourth year as principal at Morrill Elementary.
