New walking paths nearly complete, open to public

Posted: Updated:

Runners and bikers in one KOTA Territory community have a few more blocks of paved pathway to enjoy.

The City of Torrington is expanding their existing walking path.

The newly constructed section begins at Jirdon Park and travels west from 25th Street to 22nd Street.

Parks and Recreation Superintendent Matt John says the newly extended path is open to the public but some minor aesthetic work still needs to be finished by the work crew.

"It's gone really well for them," says John.  "About really the biggest thing they have left is laying sod and of course with the cold weather you can't do that."

The city plans to add an additional four blocks of path in spring 2014.

When complete, Torrington will have one continuous walking path that spans from the east side of town to P Street on the west.
