Gretna couple claims Powerball jackpot

Posted: Updated:

Governor Dave Heineman is happy that the country's newest *Powerball* winners are from Nebraska.
This afternoon, the governor presented David and Erica Harrig with their winnings.

The couple purchased the winning ticket from a Gretna convenience store, and won more than $61 million.

Governor Dave Heineman says the Harrig's win is one of the biggest in state history.
"This is Nebraska's 10th Powerball jackpot since the lottery began in Nebraska in 1994," said Heineman. "And this is the second highest Powerball awarded."
David and Erica Harrig say they both retired from their jobs this week, but don't want their new-found fortune to change who they are. "The biggest thing is not losing sight of who we were before on Tuesday. There was no little people I in our lives then, and there's no little people in our lives now."
David says the only big purchase he plans to make right now is a brand new red Corvette.
