Minatare H.S. students write and perform own play; present to Kindergartners

Posted: Updated:

Students from one KOTA Territory High School class are reminding younger students about the spirit of Christmas.

This morning, Minatare High School students wrote and performed a holiday play to kindergartners at the elementary school.

This particular story involved kids from Minatare believing enough in Santa to power his sleigh without the help of reindeers.

Language Arts teacher Roger Holsinger says he's been working with his students on how to write a script, *re-write* it, and how to adapt.

"The students have gotten really good at writing lines and realizing that sometimes you invented the first time, that maybe you go back through it and it doesn't quite fit," says Holsinger. "And we wee need to take words out here and there and substitute words. And they have shown some great progress."

"We all came up with little bits and pieces of how we wanted it to go," says Senior Jenny Case. "And what we wanted to do with it and our own lines."

Holsinger says his students have already written holiday plays for Halloween and Thanksgiving, and their writing has continued to improve.
