Emma's Closet offers hope for female cancer patients

Posted: Updated:

Female cancer patients are getting a chance to up their style, thanks to a new salon at Regional West Medical Center.

"Emma's Closet" is a salon dedicated to helping women who are experiencing hair loss. The shop is located at the hospital's Cancer Treatment Center and it offers new and gently used wigs, scarves, hats, and turbans.

The goal? To help women look good and feel better.
"It's very, very personal when we lose our hair and go through treatment or have a chronic condition and that's really hard for us to do that," explains Kim Cross, RN. "And we're all different, some women handle it better than others, but deep down that's a real big loss."
Emma's Closet is doubly special because it is run on a free or donation only basis.

There are approximately 50 wigs in different colors, styles, and lengths that are displayed at any one time.
Emma's Closet is open Monday-Friday from 8 to 5
