Diaper Depot hands out hundreds of diapers to those in need

Posted: Updated:

It can be expensive taking care of a newborn or toddler but the people of First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff are helping ease some stress this holiday season.

The monthly Diaper Depot was held this Saturday.

Volunteers handed out bags of diapers and other items like deer jerky donated by the Hunters For Hungry program.

Volunteer Chris Smith said there is a great demand for diapers in the community especially during this time of the year.

Smith says single family households come from all over the panhandle including Bridgeport and eastern Wyoming for the diaper depot.

"It's hard, a lot of folks are single parents, a lot of them are having financial troubles. To be able to get them diapers to last them a week or so is usually a pretty big blessing for them. It helps them out, frees them up to pay bills or put food on the table." Said Smith.

More than 100 bags of diapers were handed out in just two hours during today's monthly event.
