KAB reports recycling numbers on the rise

Posted: Updated:

Recycling quantities continue to increase and the members of 'Keep Alliance Beautiful' have the numbers to prove it.

Comparing last year's third quarter volumes with today's -- more than 124-thousand pounds have been recycled.  That's up five-point-seven percent.

Newspaper was the largest recycled item, followed by shredded paper, then white paper.

'Keep Alliance Beautiful' Director Deb Dopheide believes one reason for the increase has to do with just how easy recycling can be.  She says it's something everyone can do.
"We think we're seeing an increase because people still are catching on," says Dopheide.  "They understand what they need to do and I think people are taking that very seriously which makes me very pleased because it tells me that I'm not alone in this desire to make my county stay clean."
Members of Keep Alliance Beautiful are thanking residents for participating in their reduce, reuse, recycle initiative.
