Game and Parks collecting hunting gear for mentored youth program

Posted: Updated:

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is accepting donations of new and used hunting gear and clothing.

The donations will go to the commission's Hunter Outreach Program -- a mentored youth hunting program.

Organizers say many youths who participate don't have access to appropriate clothing and gear.

The commission is accepting items from parkas and insulated coats to hooded sweatshirts and insulated boots.

Donations can be dropped off weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at game and parks offices in Kearney, Lincoln and North Platte.

Other donated items can include camouflaged and blaze orange hunting gear, insulated bibs, shooting sticks, game calls, gloves, facemasks and new wool socks, among other items. Donate items should be clean and in good, working condition.
