WNRA reaches annual boarding goal

Western Nebraska Regional Airport will once again receive $1 million from the federal government for airport improvements.

The annual pay–out is contingent upon the airport reaching 10,000 boardings.

Excluding the month of December, Western Nebraska Regional Airport reports boarding just over 10,000 passengers.

Of those passengers, nearly 9,000 flew Great Lakes, around 400–people flew charters, and more than 800–people took medical flights.

Airport Director Darwin Skelton admits he was worried about reaching that 10,000 mark.

"I'm always concerned with it, until the end of the year when it comes to fruition, so-to-speak, and I can see it and I know it's there and feeling really comfortable."

If the airport fails to reach 10,000 boardings, their annual pay–out drops from $1 million dollars to only $150,000.
