City of Kimball revamping city entrances

Posted: Updated:

The city of Kimball is working to improve the look of the city, starting from the outside edges.
Kimball city officials want to spruce up all entrances into the city, to make the area more welcoming to both visitors and residents.

A number of projects are already underway, including the Kimball Recycling Center on the western edge of town, which will have a complete overhaul of its front entrance.

The historic underpass on the north entrance of town will also undergo renovations in the near future.

Kimball City Administrator Daniel Ortiz says there are several more projects planned.

"It really says a lot about the entrance of the community if its appealing, if its aesthetically pleasing, it shows the community, its integrity, its customs, its values. And so we're very much hopeful that this project along with other aspects that we're trying to venture on will help to improve our entrances and help to promote the community as a whole."
Construction on the underpass is expected to begin in 2015.
