'Blowout' mosaic exhibit hits West Nebraska Arts Center

Posted: Updated:

A Loveland Colorado artist has come to Scottsbluff to share her mosaic artwork with residents at the West Nebraska Arts Center.

Grace Blowers is introducing 130 art pieces to the community with here mosaic exhibit called Blowout that premiered on Friday.

She says since June of last year, she's worked 10 hour days each day to prepare for this opening weekend.

Blowers is no stranger to sharing her passion for art with the Scottsbluff community. This is her third time having an exhibit in the gallery.

The seven-year artist says she tries to have a variety of art pieces in order to attract all walks of life.

"I move people. It doesn't really matter what else I do. If people are moved by my work, if I can get an aha or an oh my gosh, I've accomplished everything that I've set out to do." Blowers smiled.

Executive Director for West Nebraska Arts Center, Mason Burbough, says there are several colorful pieces on display that he hopes will also inspire visitors to give mosaic art a try.

"It gives people a look into a different art perspective. See some different styles of art being made and maybe inspire somebody's own creativity. You know, they might be visiting the gallery and you know, it might just really peak their interest and give it a try themselves." Said Burbough.

The "Blowout" exhibit will be up until February 2nd. There is no admission fee.

The gallery is open Tuesdays-Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
