Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2014 officially begins her reign

Posted: Updated:

Lady in Waiting no longer, Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2014 has officially received her crown.

Hemingford native Gina Marie Jespersen was crowned Saturday night at her coronation ceremony in Scottsbluff.

Jespersen was named ‘Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2014' this summer, and spent a few months as 'Lady in Waiting' while 2013 queen Sam Chytka finished her reign.

Jespersen took over the crown from Chytka last night, and says she is excited for the journey ahead.

"I'm just so fortunate to be from the panhandle, everyone has supported me so much, and my sponsors have been so generous," Jespersen said. "So, tonight's just the party night, everyone's here to support me and it's so much fun. And I just can't wait to kick off my year and be able to travel promoting rodeo and Nebraska and where I'm from. its going to be a great year, and it seems kind of surreal that it's actually happening!"

As Miss Rodeo Nebraska, Jespersen will serve as an ambassador to the state and to the sport of rodeo, she'll travel the state and country promoting the ‘western way of life.'
