Deadline for Korean Honor Flight nears; seats available

Posted: Updated:

The Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs is reminding any panhandle Korean War Veterans to sign up for what may be the last honor flight trip to Washington D.C.
The deadline is January 17th.

Veterans Affairs says seats are available but priority will be given to Korean Veterans who served from 1950 to 1953.

Scotts Bluff County Veterans Service Director John Brehm says if any veterans would like to go they should jump on it.
"It's important because each veteran served in Korea in harms way. And I think it'll be nice to see this memorial that's been erected in honor of them. And I know there's many of them that lost their good friends over there and some relatives and I think it'll be a way to show tribute to their service." Said Brehm.
Brehm says any Korean veterans could come into the Veterans Office in Gering and he can provide more information for them.
