State Judicial Branch warns about virus sent through e-mails

Posted: Updated:

The Nebraska Judicial Branch is warning the public tonight about a computer virus being sent through e-mail that claims to be about a court case.

Nebraska court officials say that the e-mails often arrive with a subject line that reads "hearing of your case in court'' or "notice to appear in court.''

Officials say opening any attachment or clicking on any link could trigger a computer virus.

They say the e-mails are not from the courts and are not about court cases.

A Nebraska Supreme Court Spokesperson says Nebraska courts do occasionally send e-mails or text messages, but those relate to specific programs.

Anyone who receives such an e-mail is asked not to open it and to delete the e-mail.
