Bridgeport library expansion complete

Posted: Updated:

Library patrons in one KOTA Territory community are enjoying a new luxury these days: space.
Construction is finally complete on the Bridgeport Public Library's new addition.

Library Director Tammy Howitt-Covalt says the facility has nearly doubled in size.

The library was expanded to include Bridgeport's former City Hall and police station.

Howitt-Covalt says the newly added area is now dedicated to children's books, children's programs, and teen reads.
"We had our first programs last week," says Tammy. "And we didn't have to keep saying 'shh be quiet' or 'oh don't be so loud'.  [The kids] have their own room.  It has it's own entrance. It has a door that shuts so they can just be kids and do what kids do best."
Howitt-Covalt says the additional space will allow the library to grow with the community over time.
