Cheyenne Co. Community Center challenging Sidney residents to "Get Fit, Stay Fit"

The city of Sidney is encouraging its residents to 'Get Fit' this new year.
More than 100 people have entered into the Cheyenne County Community Center's 'Get Fit, Stay Fit' Challenge.

The weight-loss challenge encourages people to get active and motivate themselves to work-out.

Whoever loses the most weight at the end of the four-month challenge wins a 2 night get-away prize valued at over 500 dollars.

But Activities Director Kiersten Richards says the challenge isn't just about losing weight or winning prizes, it's about creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
"We just want people to get healthy. With all the fast food options out there, the video games, we just want people to know being active is a lot more fun, for one. But also, you're going to live longer. We've got stats and stuff showing to all our participants that if you stay active, and if you exercise and eat right, you're going to live a lot longer," said Richards.
This is the 5th year of the 'Get Fit, Stay Fit' Challenge, Richards says contestants have lost a collective of 2,000 pounds since the program was started.
