WNCC offering informative sessions on applying for financial aid

Posted: Updated:

Heading-off to college is an exciting time, but it can also cause a lot of financial stress.

That's why Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) is hosting a series of financial aid presentations to help prospective college students better understand the financial aid process.

The two-hour-long informative sessions are open to people interested in attending college anywhere, not just those planning to attend WNCC.

Financial Aid Director Sheila Johns says WNCC wants to help simplify the financial aid process because it can be very confusing.

"There's different places they can apply for aid: federal aid, institutional aid, aid from other 3rd party organizations and people don't always know where to go to apply," says Johns.  "And so we're just trying to get that info out to them so they know where to go and how to go about it."

WNCC will offer five financial aid classes at locations across the panhandle in January and February starting on January 22nd.

For more information about upcoming classes, contact the WNCC Financial Aid Office at (308) 635-6011.
