Scottsbluff man arrested on drug distribution charges

Posted: Updated:

A 30-year-old Scottsbluff man has been arrested on a variety of drug-related charges after one of his customers gave him up to police.

Steven Tafoya was arrested late Monday night after local law enforcement served a search warrant on his East 12th Street residence.

Police found glass jars containing large amounts of marijuana, as well as glass pipes, a marijuana grinder, and digital scale.

Police were clued into Tafoya after serving court papers to two women, who later got into a car with a driver who had a suspended license. When the officer found out from the Communications Center that the driver was driving under suspension, he initiated a traffic stop.

The officer smelled marijuana, and the driver told him that Tafoya had been supplying him for the past 10 months.

Tafoya is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
