Village of Hemingford looking to fill vacancies

Posted: Updated:

The Village of Hemingford is looking for applicants to fill vacancies in the village clerk and treasurer positions.
During their December board meeting, members voted to not reappoint Ann Trickler-Wessel, who previously held the position and was employed with the village for 20 years.

Chair Board Member Gilbert Sullivan says at the time of Wessel's appointment she was qualified for the position.

But he says during Wessel's one-year position, many errors were made and the board hired an account firm to oversee everything monthly.

Right now, the board has the position filled temporarily but Sullivan says he hopes to have a permanent fill soon.
"I'm all for hiring local. If you have local people that are qualified. I'm not for putting someone into position because of the way that they spell their name...but again this is small town living."
The board is also reviewing applications for a utilities foreman and utilities worker.

Anyone interested in filling those vacancies is asked to contact the Village of Hemingford.
