Former OTD Chairman files for County Commissioner seat

Posted: Updated:

A Gering native looks to replace an incumbent for his Scotts Bluff County Commissioner's seat.

Charles "Chuck" Cowan filed for the District I seat last week. That seat is currently occupied by Mike Marker, the Board's Vice Chairman.

Cowan has previously served as General Chairman for Oregon Trail Days, as well as Chairman for the Gering Holiday Parade.

Marker tells KOTA Territory News that he does not plan to file for re-election. Marker is completing his third term, and has nearly 12 years of service under his belt.

Marker says that Cowan did approach him to see if he was going to seek re-election.

Other people filing for a seat on the Scotts Bluff County Board of Commissioners include Mark Masterton and Sherry Blaha- both incumbents for their respective districts.
