Arraignment scheduled for Mitchell meth bust suspect

Posted: Updated:

One of two men charged in a meth bust that took place in early January in Mitchell has been bound–over to district court and received a bond increase of nearly $140,000.

Joseph Lowery is being charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

On January 10th police found more than 18–ounces of methamphetamine inside a Mitchell residence allegedly shared by Lowery and George Valles.

Defense argued there wasn't enough evidence to show Lowery lived in the home and said he was just visiting a brother who lived there.

However Judge James Worden ruled there was sufficient evidence and bound the case over to district court.

Worden also increased Lowery's bond to $150,000 due to severity of crime and the significant amount of methamphetamine found.

Lowery will be arraigned in District Court on January 31st at 1p.m .
