Scottsbluff students collecting clothes for Foster Care Closet

Posted: Updated:

Students attending Catholic schools across the nation are celebrating Catholic Schools week.

The theme this year is 'Catholic school communities of faith, knowledge, and service.'
Here in the panhandle, students at Saint Agnes Catholic School are choosing to give back through a service project helping foster children in need.

Principal Julie Brown says more than 200 items of books, clean socks and underwear have been collected to donate to the Foster Care Closet in Scottsbluff.

She says the clothing items collected are what foster children need the most prior to moving into foster care.

Brown says each year the students show a sense of commitment.
"Each year we try to choose different community service organizations that we can give back to and it teaches our kids what they're called to do, be the hands and feet of Christ." Said Brown.
Tomorrow evening St. Agnes Catholic School wraps up Catholic Schools week with a fish-fry starting at 5:30 p.m. $8 adults/$4 kids. 205 E 23rd St., Scottsbluff. Call 308-632-6918 for more information.
