Three men - including two who started the season on the Western Nebraska Community College basketball team - have been arrested following a two-month theft investigation by local law enforcement.

Warrants were issued for 19-year-old Austin Clark and Zachery Bibb, as well as 18-year-old Mathieu Prieels last week. Clark and Bibb were both freshman for the Cougar basketball team at the start of the season. Their names have since been removed from the official roster.

Court documents say that between November 29 and December 5, 2013, the three men would drive around searching for unlocked vehicles and stole items.

Items included a radar detector, a wallet, a deposit bag with a large amount of cash in it, binoculars, an X-Box, golf clubs.

During the course of the investigation, Investigator Rob Johnston with the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office interviewed Austin Clark. He said he was driving with Prieels and Bibb, and that he had taken the radar detector and a GPS unit. He said Bibb had taken a set of golf clubs, the X-Box, a wallet, and a purse.

Investigator Johnston interviewed Matthew Prieels, who corroborated much of the same information. He also said they found approximately $1,000 in a vehicle near Hillcrest Drive.

The three men are now charged with seven counts of theft, including one felony charge of theft by taking.

Austin Clark filed a motion for a continuance for his pretrial hearing in Scotts Bluff County Court. Bibb and Prieels are scheduled to be back in court on February 7th.

All three are free after posting 10% of $50,000 bonds.
